Severe Storms Slam WA: Flash Flooding, Hail & Thunder in Perth Forecast! (2025)

Severe Weather Alert: Western Australia Braces for More Storms and Flash Flooding

Western Australia is in for a rough few days as the state faces a continuation of severe weather conditions. Thunderstorms and heavy rainfall have already caused quite a stir overnight, and the Bureau of Meteorology warns that the worst is yet to come.

The storm's impact was evident on social media, where Perth residents shared stunning and loud thunderstorms, with some describing the thunder as 'deafening'. Despite the skies clearing up on Wednesday morning, the Bureau of Meteorology has issued a warning that the state's stormy skies are far from over.

According to Meteorologist Angus Hines, the low-pressure trough will continue to move over the state, bringing more severe thunderstorms and showers in the afternoon and evening. The eastern hills area of Perth is expected to be particularly affected, and the Wheatbelt, Great Southern, Goldfields, and interior areas of WA will also face the brunt of the severe storms.

The Bureau of Meteorology has also issued a warning about the potential consequences of the heavy rain and storms. Flash flooding is a real concern, and WA may also see some large hail or damaging wind gusts in association with the severe thunderstorms. This could lead to damage to trees and property, as well as road closures and flash flooding.

Agriculture will also be impacted, with potential issues for both crops and harvesting across the southern half of the state. WA residents are advised to remain on alert for damage caused by the weather and to take necessary precautions.

Individuals who require emergency assistance during the storm are advised to contact the SES on 132 500. The following is the Perth forecast for the next few days:

  • Wednesday: 15C - 25C, Showers & Storms
  • Thursday: 15C - 23C, Partly cloudy
  • Friday: 12C - 25C, Partly cloudy
