Ariana Grande's Absence from the Wicked Premiere in Brazil Sparks Fan Concern
Ariana Grande's absence from the Wicked: For Good premiere in Brazil has sparked concern among her fans, who have taken to wishing her harm due to her inability to attend. In a recent Instagram Story, Grande addressed this issue, urging fans to refrain from such behavior. She explained that plane issues prevented her from attending the premiere, despite her best efforts.
"Please don't wish danger on us," Grande wrote. "We did everything we could, and I promise you no one is more upset than I am. No matter how upset or disappointed you are, please, please do not wish danger on us or assume that we didn’t try. There was no other time for me to leave, and these plans have been booked for months."
Grande expressed her disappointment, stating that she had been looking forward to the premiere for a year. She revealed that her team and Universal had explored all possible solutions, including various flight options, but none could accommodate her travel needs in time for the event. Even a private flight option required a permit, which took time to obtain.
In a follow-up post, Grande provided additional context for her absence. She mentioned that she had wrapped another film on the 31st and faced a flight issue that forced her to deplane. The film, Focker-In-Law, might not sit well with her anti-male nurse fanbase. Despite her efforts, she had to find an alternative flight due to a safety problem on the original plane.
"I worked all day the 1st and the 2nd as well, just the same as Jonny [Bailey], Cyn[thia Erivo], and Jon [M. Chu] have been working," she shared. "We all were scheduled to leave the same day. It just so happened that this plane had a safety problem."
Grande expressed her heartbreak over not being able to attend the premiere and apologized for her absence. The Wicked: For Good film is set to open on November 21.
